A Pivotal Moment in My Spiritual Awakening

There are moments in life when the ground beneath us shifts, and we are forced to look at the world—and ourselves—through a new lens. One of those moments for me happened in 1994, a year that started with uncertainty and heartbreak but became the catalyst for my spiritual awakening.

I had lost a job I had once loved. A company buyout had changed everything, and as someone in Human Resources, I knew what was coming. They wanted their own people, and one by one, my colleagues and I were given our walking papers. It wasn’t just about losing a job; it was the sense of being pushed out of a place where I had invested so much of myself. The loss left me feeling adrift, questioning my worth and struggling with the uncertainty of what would come next.

Then, amidst the sadness, life presented me with another unexpected turn—I found out I was pregnant. A whirlwind of emotions swept through me. Joy, fear, excitement, uncertainty. It was a moment of beginnings and endings, where the life I had known was slipping away, yet something entirely new was unfolding.

One day, feeling particularly lost, I wandered into a bookstore. Books had always been a source of comfort for me, a way to find answers when I didn’t know the questions to ask. As I browsed the shelves, one book seemed to jump off and land in my hands—Living with Joy by Sanaya Roman.

I still remember holding it, flipping through the pages, feeling as though it had been placed there just for me. I had spent so much of my life looking outside of myself for direction, waiting for circumstances to dictate how I should feel. But this book opened my eyes to something entirely different. It spoke about choice—the choice to embrace joy, the choice to see life as an unfolding experience of growth, the choice to take responsibility for my own happiness.

Until that moment, I hadn’t realized how much power I had in shaping my own experience. I had believed that external events dictated my emotions, that happiness or sadness was something given or taken away based on life’s circumstances. But now, I saw it differently. I could choose joy. I could decide, even in the face of uncertainty, that I would step forward with faith instead of fear.

That book became a guidepost for me, marking the beginning of my journey into deeper self-awareness and spiritual exploration. It wasn’t just about feeling good; it was about realizing that I held the power to shape my own life, my own emotions, and my own path forward.

That moment in the bookstore was more than just finding a book—it was a divine nudge, a synchronistic meeting with wisdom that had been waiting for me. It was the beginning of seeing life through a new lens, one where I wasn’t a victim of circumstance but a creator of my own experience.

Looking back, I see how that moment set the stage for everything that followed. My path into energy work, intuitive development, and guiding others—all of it was seeded in that time of transition. What once felt like an ending was actually the doorway to something far greater than I could have imagined.

And so, I ask you—what stories are you telling yourself about your own life? What if, right now, you could shift your perspective and see that even in the moments of loss or uncertainty, something greater is waiting to unfold?
